Meet Mike
Mike Darcy is the debut author of the Little Joe series, as such it is not a series yet, but trust him, there is more than one book. He spent the better part of his youth wandering the forest, subsisting on foraging wild berries and the generosity of concerned woodland creatures. He holds degrees in Digital Forensics, Applied Mathematics, and a Masters in Public Administration. Obviously, natural foundations to tales about adventurous, talking animals.
He lives in Southern New Hampshire with his family of super geniuses, where he serves as a bed for their adopted cat. He can be seen around town most days when his Norwegian Elkhound takes him for his daily proscribed walks.
Footnote: While he was raised in a barn he did not, nor has he ever claimed to have walked uphill to school both ways in the snow. It was uphill one way then a sled ride home.

The Little Joe Storyline
- 1990?
This was Mike’s first hike to the treeline on the Presidential Range in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. It was winter and only a taste, but this hike cemented a life long passion for the outdoors.
- 2002
Mike is given a stuffed animal of a small bear to keep with him at all times. The bear’s name, Roxy
- 2003
Let’s call it a date. Mike and his then girlfriend stayed home for an evening together. Lacking money and much of anything else they took to decorating Mike apartment with drawings of of their country house, complete with a picket fence and flower gardens. Also, a cute puppy with oversized ears and a frog in the garden.
- 2005
A couple of nights before their wedding, the maid of honor and her daughter, Anna, were staying at the house. Anna is in bed and she asked “Uncle” Mike for a bedtime story. Little Joe and the Big Rain is born.

Mike shares his Little joe stories with his own child night after night
- 2015?
After a decade of oral story telling, Mike finally writes down the very first draft of Little Joe and the Big Rain.
- 2024
Mike decides to take the steps toward publication. He finds an amazing illustrator, Tincho Schmidt, and even discovers an editor he enjoys working with, Rebekah Becker. Together the Little Joe series comes to life and 3 stories are illustrated and 6 are edited.

Mike continues to work on the Little Joe series and begins publishing the first books.Â
